Profiles are built around prompts, photos, and voice notes, and you like or comment on specific parts rather than just swiping. It is generally geared towards people looking for relationships so conversations tend to start with a bit more substance (but that does not prevent basic hey opening messages from happening). Their whole marketing tagline is designed to be deleted but like any mass app, results can vary.
